About The Position
Fairbanks Memorial Hospital (FMH), a subsidiary of Foundation Health Partners, is seeking a full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join their experienced Anesthesia team. This role offers a unique opportunity to advance your career and broaden your scope of practice in Alaska. The position features a three-week-on, two-week-off schedule, providing 20 weeks off per year for personal exploration. The CRNA will manage a bread-and-butter caseload including general surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, ENT, podiatry, healthy pediatrics, and GI procedures, with physician oversight. While high-acuity cases are less frequent, the role is dynamic and engaging within a rural health system, avoiding the constant intensity of a trauma-heavy environment. Shifts are 12 hours, often ending earlier, ensuring a balanced schedule with predictable downtime. The hospital operates 4-5 ORs daily with one additional out-of-OR assignment (OB or GI Procedures), and does not perform craniotomies or heart surgeries. The team consists of 5 full-time Anesthesiologists and will ultimately include 12 CRNAs.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in nursing.
- Completion of a graduate program approved by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs.
- Approval to practice as a Certified Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetist (NBCRNA).
- A valid current or temporary Alaska RN license.
Nice To Haves

- Experience working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a CRNA.
- Additional related education and/or experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage a bread-and-butter caseload including general surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, ENT, podiatry, healthy peds, and GI procedures.
- Manage cases with physician oversight.
- Provide anesthesia services in 4-5 ORs daily.
- Cover one additional out-of-OR assignment (OB or GI Procedures) daily.
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists and other CRNAs.
