About The Position
This role provides purpose, stability, and the chance to support the well-being of others as a Nurse Aide with the Department of Corrections at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Laurel Highlands. In this role, you will help carry out important daily care tasks that improve the lives of inmates in the medical unit. Requirements
- Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry
- Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA
- Ability to perform essential job functions
- Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
Responsibilities
- Check vital signs, collect specimens, and record health information for licensed staff review
- Assist inmates with bathing, dressing, feeding, sleep routines, and mobility needs
- Provide comfort measures, help transfer inmates, and monitor skin condition and hygiene
- Escort wheelchair inmates, make beds, change linens, and maintain clean work areas
- Sterilize equipment, maintain inventory, and organize needed materials
- Share important information with licensed staff and complete required documentation
