About The Position

As a Dentist with the Department of Corrections (DOC), you will play an important part in delivering reliable dental services at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Laurel Highlands. This position provides the chance to use your diagnostic, procedural, and leadership abilities in a structured and supportive clinical environment. Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved school of dentistry. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • Possess a license to practice dentistry issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

Responsibilities

  • Perform examinations, review medical histories, diagnose oral diseases, and prepare treatment plans
  • Provide restorative, endodontic, surgical, and preventative treatments while maintaining infection control standards
  • Consult with and refer patients to physicians, oral surgeons, and other health care specialists as needed
  • Direct dental assistants and hygienists, provide training, review performance, and support corrective actions
  • Examine schedules, records, requests, and documentation to ensure compliance with quality and procedural standards
  • Monitor inventory, approve replenishment, and maintain security, tool control, and toxic and caustic control
