About The Position
The Joseph "Eddie" Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center is a 156-bed long-term care facility in Hanson, Kentucky, committed to serving Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity, and providing compassionate care. The Nurse Aide State Registered I works in a team-centered environment to support residents’ physical and psychosocial needs. The position may involve exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions requiring safety procedures, as well as occasional encounters with unpredictable resident behavior. The position has an initial and promotional probationary period of six months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
Requirements
- Possess current registration with the Kentucky Nurse Aide Registry as administered by the Cabinet for Health and Family Services and Kentucky Board of Nursing.
- Maintain required licensure, certification, or other credentials for the length of employment.
- No experience, training, or skills are required.
- The agency is prohibited from hiring employees with convictions identified in 906 KAR 1:190; a fingerprint-supported national background check will be conducted before an offer of employment.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, grooming, dental, oral, and nail care.
- Assist residents with medical appointments and transportation.
- Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions.
- Provide total physical care, including assistance with meals.
- Help meet Veterans’ physical and psychosocial needs.
