About The Position

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations. Position OverviewReporting to the Supervisor of the MOST program and working within an integrated multi-disciplinary team, nurses are required to provide services to adult clients engaged in addiction treatment. This position requires a commitment to a client-centered philosophy and approach to the development, provision and support of Shared Health programs and services.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years recent relevant clinical experience with individual and group counselling.
  • Graduate of an approved School of Nursing required.
  • Responsible for maintaining and providing proof of active registration with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Manitoba (CRPNM) or the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training requirements for this position shall be in accordance with the applicable policy.
  • Knowledge of College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses/Registered Nurses of Manitoba Standards of Practice for Registered Psychiatric/Registered Nurses.
  • Knowledge of College of Registered Psychiatric/Registered Nurses of Manitoba Code of Ethics for Registered Psychiatric/Registered Nurses.
  • Knowledge of Scope of practice as documented in the Health Professions Act of Manitoba.
  • Knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines.
  • Nursing care knowledge related to clinical area.
  • Knowledge of Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions) and other legislated acts.
  • Knowledge of roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team.
  • Knowledge of principles of delegation.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication skills in English is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • Knowledge of the addictions field and experience in mental health is considered an asset.
  • An understanding of, and sensitivity to, working with culturally diverse populations is essential.
  • French and Indigenous language skills are considered an asset.

  • Work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary health care team.
  • Facilitate CBT-m and CBT-a groups.
