Parsons is seeking a Senior Nuclear Process Engineer to support nuclear facility projects and existing site operations in Richland, Washington. This role focuses on delivering high-quality process design, providing process engineering support for ongoing site projects, coordinating across disciplines, and driving project execution from concept through detailed design. The selected candidate must be located in Richland or willing to relocate to the area. This position is part of our Critical Infrastructure team. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field
  • 10+ years of process engineering experience
  • Previous engineering experience at a nuclear facility, nuclear fuel-cycle facility, DOE facility, or NRC-regulated facility
  • Experience supporting projects within an operating nuclear or highly regulated industrial facility
  • Strong experience developing and reviewing core process design deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, equipment specifications, and process calculations
  • Experience providing process engineering support for facility modifications, equipment upgrades, and existing-site projects
  • Ability to coordinate and work effectively across multiple engineering disciplines in an EPC project environment
  • Strong problem-solving, technical analysis, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work directly with site personnel, project teams, clients, and equipment vendors

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of process engineering experience, with significant experience supporting nuclear facilities or nuclear-related projects
  • Experience with nuclear fuel fabrication, uranium processing, enrichment, conversion, deconversion, advanced reactor fuels, or radioactive material processing
  • Experience supporting DOE or NRC-regulated facilities
  • Experience providing day-to-day process engineering support to an operating facility
  • Extensive experience with EPC process engineering from feasibility and conceptual design through detailed design and construction support is preferred.
  • Experience supporting nuclear facility modifications, modernization projects, capacity expansions, or brownfield upgrades
  • Experience working with operations and maintenance personnel to troubleshoot process issues and implement facility improvements
  • Familiarity with nuclear safety requirements, process hazard analyses, criticality safety interfaces, safety basis documentation, and nuclear quality requirements such as NQA-1
  • Familiarity with process modeling and hydraulic analysis tools, such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, Pipe-Flo
  • Experience supporting feasibility studies, design engineering, commissioning, startup, and operational-readiness activities
  • Professional Engineer license or demonstrated progress toward licensure

Responsibilities

  • Provide site-based process engineering support for existing projects and ongoing activities at the Richland facility
  • Work closely with site engineering, operations, maintenance, and project teams to resolve process-related issues and support facility needs
  • Support facility modifications, equipment upgrades, capacity improvements, process optimization, and brownfield projects
  • Lead development of process deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, heat and material balances, equipment data sheets, process calculations, and design basis documents
  • Perform process and hydraulic modeling to support design decisions, equipment sizing, and system performance
  • Support feasibility studies, conceptual design, detailed design, technical evaluations, and development of cost-estimate inputs
  • Evaluate existing process systems and recommend modifications or improvements to support safety, reliability, capacity, and operational objectives
  • Coordinate with mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation and controls, and other engineering disciplines to deliver an integrated design
  • Interface with equipment vendors during equipment selection, preparation of technical specifications, bid evaluations, and submittal reviews
  • Support process safety reviews, hazard evaluations, design reviews, and resolution of technical comments
  • Support commissioning, startup, testing, and operational-readiness activities, as required
  • Participate in client and site meetings, resolve technical issues, and align stakeholders on design direction
  • Provide technical guidance to project team members and support internal quality reviews
