About The Position

The Nuclear Oversight (NOS) Auditor position is required by the Callaway Energy Center (CEC) Operating Quality Assurance Manual (OQAM) to verify that internal and external quality activities are conducted in compliance with the Operating Quality Assurance Program (OQAP). NOS Auditors provide this verification through assessment of the adequacy of OQAP implementation and reporting of the results to CEC management. These quality assurance assessment activities are conducted at Callaway Energy Center (CEC) and/or at vendor locations. Engineers fulfilling the role of a NOS Auditor will follow Engineering's Technical Career Path. The role encompasses multiple levels: Auditor, Senior Auditor, and Consulting Auditor, with increasing responsibilities and experience requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Education and/or experience necessary to be able to obtain Lead Auditor certification (Regulatory Guide 1.146/ANSI N45.2.23-1978).
  • Consulting Auditor: 10 years of technical experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, Construction, Operation, Maintenance, or Quality Assurance.
  • Senior Auditor: 7 years of technical experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, Construction, Operation, Maintenance, or Quality Assurance.
  • Auditor: 5 or more years of technical experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, Construction, Operation, Maintenance, or Quality Assurance.
  • Technical experience includes training, health physics, chemistry, and other related disciplines.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Outlook, and Power Point software.
  • Proven ability to lead projects.

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor's or associate degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, or Quality Assurance from an accredited institution.
  • Previous nuclear and/or quality assurance experience.
  • Previous experience or demonstrated ability to develop or implement quality assurance program elements.
  • Previous experience conducting assessment activities.
  • Previous experience in a customer-oriented work environment.
  • Experience in the areas of performance improvement and human performance/behaviors.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct internal or external audits and surveillances of QA program implementation.
  • Participate or lead compliance-based audits (audit group) or be assigned a functional area, which requires grading the performance of line departments (monitoring group).
  • Clearly communicate with the audited organization to ensure assessment results are well understood.
  • Initiate corrective action documents and verify the effectiveness of actions taken.
  • Escalate issues or provide Stop Work recommendations if necessary.
  • Maintain Qualified Suppliers List, perform annual evaluations, and participate in industry on vendor audits, surveys, or surveillances (if assigned Supplier Quality or NEI responsibilities).
  • Prepare and review new and revised NOS procedures or instructions as assigned.
  • Lead complex internal or external audits or assessments to verify Quality Assurance Program content and implementation (Senior Auditor).
  • Ensure timely and successful completion of intrusive and value-added audits or assessments (Senior Auditor).
  • Provide input to NOS Supervision on scheduling of audits or assessments, ensuring appropriate scope and team size (Senior Auditor).
  • Provide functional guidance and direction to Auditors and Technical Specialists (Senior Auditor).
  • Coordinate updates to the Operating Quality Assurance Manual (Senior Auditor).
  • Develop and administer training to qualify Auditors and Lead Auditors (Senior Auditor).
  • Provide strategic leadership or vision for quality assurance assessment activities (Consulting Auditor).
  • Advise NOS management (Consulting Auditor).
  • Lead and actively participate in external Nuclear Industry Evaluation Program audits (Consulting Auditor).
  • Employ a full range of organizational resources to ensure high-quality assessment results (Consulting Auditor).
  • Promote and implement changes to the NOS Department to improve department performance (Consulting Auditor).
  • Provide functional guidance and direction to Senior Auditors, Auditors, and Technical Specialists (Consulting Auditor).
