About The Position

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for reviewing patient history and physician's orders. This role includes educating patients regarding procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation. The technologist positions patients and performs imaging procedures while ensuring proper techniques that consider the patient's age and ability to understand the procedure.

Requirements

  • CT certified with PET/CT experience preferred.
  • ARRT CT certification.
  • Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or registered as a Radiologic Technologist (RT) with Nuclear Medicine certification (NM) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • New York State License.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred knowledge of GE PET or Philips PET Scanners.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively educate and support patients.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality imaging results.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient information and physician's orders.
  • Educate patients about procedures and equipment to facilitate cooperation.
  • Position patients accurately and conduct imaging procedures.
  • Ensure image quality by adapting techniques based on patients' age and abilities.
  • Analyze imaging results and identify and resolve quality issues.
  • Enter, transmit, and report scan results accurately.
  • Order, prepare, administer, store, and dispose of radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with established protocols.
  • Continuously monitor patient condition and respond to changes as necessary.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies within the Clinical Nuclear Medicine rooms.
