The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for preparing, administering, and documenting diagnostic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under the supervision of an Authorized User. This role adheres to department radiation safety practices and involves obtaining medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast materials as directed. The technologist will obtain brief patient history, record pertinent information on finished exams, and verify patients using appropriate identifiers. They will prepare patients for procedures, explain them to patients and their families, and perform organ concentration and excretion measurements for diagnostic information. A commitment to an ongoing self-study program to ensure competence in new techniques or radiopharmaceuticals is also required.
