About The Position

Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals for use in both diagnostic studies and therapeutic treatments. It creates and enhances diagnostic images using a variety of imaging equipment and tools. Collects biologic specimens and prepares data for interpretation by physicians. Follows radiation safety guidelines and documents radio pharmaceutical usage for regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
  • State license to practice
  • Zero to two years of related experience

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and administer radioactive drugs to patients.
  • Monitor and watch for any unusual reactions patients may have to drugs.
  • Operate imaging equipment.
  • Maintain detailed procedure records.
  • Follow safety and disposal radiation procedures.
  • Explain medical procedures to patients and answer any questions they may have.
  • Follow safety procedures to protect the patients and themselves from unnecessary radiation exposure.
