About The Position

Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals for use in both diagnostic studies and therapeutic treatments. It creates and enhances diagnostic images using a variety of imaging equipment and tools. Collects biologic specimens and prepares data for interpretation by physicians. Follows radiation safety guidelines and documents radio pharmaceutical usage for regulatory compliance.

Requirements

Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB)
State license to practice
Zero to two years of related experience
Ability to use technology
Analytical skills

Interpersonal skills
Physical stamina
Ability to maintain confidentiality, including strict adherence to HIPAA and UCA Guidelines.

Responsibilities

Prepare and administer radioactive drugs to patients.
Monitor and watch for any unusual reactions patients may have to drugs.
Operate imaging equipment.
Maintain detailed procedure records.
Follow safety and disposal radiation procedures.
Explain medical procedures to patients and answer any questions they may have.
Follow safety procedures to protect the patients and themselves from unnecessary radiation exposure.
