About The Position

This is a hospital-based Nuclear Medicine position supporting a variety of diagnostic imaging and patient care needs. This role will operate within a single-technologist department model, providing a unique opportunity for an experienced Nuclear Medicine Technologist to help establish workflows and contribute to the development of a brand-new department.

Requirements

  • 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
  • Active status through one of the following: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists: Registered Technologist - Nuclear Medicine, RT(NM); or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB): Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or a recent graduate of an approved training program in Nuclear Medicine (board eligible). If board eligible, must obtain credential in Nuclear Medicine within 6 months of hire.
  • Current Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) license as Nuclear Medicine Technologist.

  • If required to perform SPECT/CT or PET/CT you will be required to obtain Computed Tomography (CT) certification within 18 months of hire through ARRT or NMTCB.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures involving the use of radiopharmaceuticals to perform body function studies, organ imaging, and analyze biologic specimen.
  • Demonstrates the appropriate knowledge and skills necessary to work with patients from pediatric through geriatric.
  • Follows physician's instructions, prepares and operates equipment and positions patients correctly in order to record the requested diagnostic images.
  • Requires a strong understanding of the handling of radiopharmaceuticals during the receipt; storage; administration; and disposal process.
  • Requires knowledge of proper laboratory procedures and a strong understanding of all hospital; state and federal policies and regulations regarding the handling of radioactive materials; hazardous chemicals; and body fluids.
  • Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
