Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) and/or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current Basic Life Support (CPR) or able to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • 2+ years of clinical experience in an acute care setting with demonstrated proficiency in myocardial perfusion imaging
  • Experience in the set-up and maintenance of a hot lab
  • Knowledge of adult coronary anatomy and coronary disease processes
  • Ability to perform routine and emergent gated myocardial perfusion SPECT imaging
  • Ability to initiate and discontinue IV access for isotope injections
  • Demonstrated organization and team building skills as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field and/or equivalent and relevant work experience
  • Experience in performing MUGA imaging

Responsibilities

  • Receives direction operationally from the RN Manager and Cardiologist.
  • Gives direction and support to the Cardiology staff.
  • Works cooperatively with all Cardiology team members to optimize health outcomes for patients.
  • Supports the overall vision of the Positive Patent Experience by achieving a positive balance of healthcare, cost outcomes and patient satisfaction.
  • Facilitates excellent customer satisfaction while achieving department specific financial goals.
  • Provides direct patient care.
  • Produces nuclear images of the heart.
  • Ensures that all care meets individualized goals of the treatment plan.
  • Ensures standards of care are implemented and in compliance with all State and Federal regulations, standards of practice, and SMA and SHS policies and procedures.
  • Monitors and maintains equipment, as well as, specific departmental supply ordering responsibilities.
  • Coordinates daily patient flow and scheduling through the Nuclear Lab
  • Acquires gated myocardial perfusion SPECT images
  • Initiate, maintain and discontinue IV access
  • Processes all images for final review by the Radiologist or Cardiologist
  • Daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual camera QC and documentation
  • Maintains the hot lab and ensures compliance with the Nevada Radiation Active Materials License
  • Assist the Radiation Safety Officer with monitoring and posting of monthly staff radiation badge readings
  • Educates all staff within the Cardiology practice on the As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) principles
