About The Position

The Nuclear Medicine PET-CT Technologist is responsible for performing PET/CT and Nuclear Medicine examinations. This includes screening patients, preparing them for procedures, administering radiopharmaceuticals, and acquiring diagnostic-quality images while adhering to safety protocols and ALARA principles. The technologist will also monitor patients, assist with department workflow, and may perform other imaging procedures as qualified.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Current certification through the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) and/or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine, as applicable to the position.
  • Current certification/registration in CT through ARRT or equivalent.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Current certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Computed Tomography (CT) in addition to Nuclear Medicine is preferred.
  • Previous experience in Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs PET/CT and Nuclear Medicine examinations in accordance with physician orders, established protocols, and department procedures.
  • Screens patients for contraindications, allergies, pregnancy status when applicable, blood glucose levels, and other factors that may affect the safety or quality of the examination.
  • Prepares patients for PET/CT and Nuclear Medicine examinations, including appropriate fasting.
  • Performs venipuncture and administers radiopharmaceuticals and contrast media, when authorized and within scope of practice.
  • Selects and applies appropriate imaging protocols based on the examination ordered and patient-specific clinical considerations.
  • Acquires diagnostic-quality PET and CT images while minimizing radiation exposure consistent with ALARA principles.
  • Reviews images for technical quality, positioning, artifacts, and completeness and obtains additional images when appropriate.
  • Performs contrast-enhanced PET/CT examinations and follows established procedures for contrast administration and management of adverse reactions.
  • Monitors patients throughout examinations and recognizes and responds appropriately to changes in patient condition or adverse reactions.
  • Assists with department workflow and may perform other imaging or nuclear medicine procedures within the individual's education, training, credentials, and scope of practice.

Benefits

  • The anticipated compensation range for this position is $48.00–$55.20 per hour, commensurate with qualifications, education, experience, and other applicable factors.
  • Additional compensation may be available in the form of discretionary incentive or other compensation programs.
