About The Position

The Nuclear Med Tech, under the supervision of the Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist and Radiologist, performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures utilizing radiopharmaceuticals, exercises professional judgment in performance of services, and applies principles of radiation protection for self and the patient. He/She must be proficient in vascular access. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist operates equipment requiring detailed concentration for extended periods of time with, stocks an adequate inventory of supplies at all times, and maintains quality control of procedures and quality assurance of equipment. The Nuclear Med Tech helps ensure that the Radiology department meets accreditation agency standards and achieves the Health System objectives. He/She assists with the development and revision of policies, procedures, and protocols as requested.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a health field required.
  • Graduate of an approved Nuclear Radiology Technology Program required.
  • Must be currently licensed as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, RT Nuclear Medicine Technologist, or a Medical Radiation Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board, Inc. (NMTCB).
  • Must be licensed by the Mississippi State Department of Health.
  • Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
  • Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training.
  • Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.).
  • Must have intermediate knowledge of MS Outlook, and Word.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist preferred.
  • Proficient in vascular access.
