About The Position

Texas Oncology is looking for a Nuclear Med Tech to join their team at the North Austin location. This is a full-time position with a flexible schedule, offering either Monday through Friday from 7 am to 3:30 pm or four ten-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday. The role is available at Level 1, 2, or Sr, depending on the candidate's experience. A $5,000 Sign-On Bonus is being offered. The hiring manager notes that the clinic is a supportive environment with an expanding radiopharmaceutical and theranostics program, at the forefront of patient care. An additional treatment chair is being added to support new therapies and clinical trials. The team is collaborative, consisting of experienced nurses, physicians, and physicists who are invested in each other's success and focused on delivering compassionate, high-quality, patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited school.
  • Minimum three years experience as a Nuclear Medical Technologist.
  • Certification as a registered radiologic technologist (ARRT) required.
  • Current IV and CPR certifications required.
  • Minimum five years experience as a Nuclear Medical Technologist (for Level 2).

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, prepares radioactive isotopes for administration to patients in accordance with physicians orders.
  • Operates scintillation detection equipment to measure isotope concentrations and scanners to record visual representations of the isotope concentrations in specific body areas of the patient.
  • Performs laboratory tests on body specimens.
  • Computes results of laboratory tests.
  • Keeps records of tests conducted, test results, and disposition of isotopes and body products containing isotopes.
  • Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
  • Conducts organ or body scans on patients with radioactive isotopes in order to provide diagnostic aid to physicians.
  • Administers isotope dosage and records dosage administered following established departmental procedures.
  • Observes patient during procedures and reports unusual occurrences to appropriate personnel.
  • Offers expertise to physicians regarding appropriateness of additional/modified studies, etc.
  • Escorts patients to treatment room.
  • Assists with dressings as necessary.
  • Completes all paperwork necessary to ensure timely delivery of services.
  • Logs nuclear medicine procedures completed.
  • Processes routine paperwork.
  • Provides protection for patient and self in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Ensures the safety and physical comfort of the patient while in technologists care.
  • Conducts daily quality control measures to monitor machine performance.
  • Reports all malfunctions and/or need for adjustments to the proper company or facility.
  • Arranges preventive maintenance as recommended by vendor.
  • Follows prescribed safety standards in operating equipment.
  • Maintains radiation detection badges and files all radiation reports.
  • Maintains adequate inventory of clinical and clerical supplies for Radiology Department to ensure efficient operations.
  • Orders, logs, and returns outside films requested from other agencies; completes appropriate documentation.
  • Arranges for the release of films to patients and outside agencies.
  • Maintains paperwork for tracking loaned films.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information related to patients and medical staff.
