About The Position

This internship offers a chance to make a difference in people's lives by building an exciting and rewarding career with Duke Energy's Nuclear Maintenance team. Interns will support the team in performing Instrumentation, Electrical, and Mechanical activities, including calibrating, assembling, disassembling, maintaining, and repairing nuclear power plant equipment. The role also involves performing preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure optimal equipment reliability. The anticipated duration for this internship is 10-12 weeks.

Requirements

  • Must be Actively Enrolled in Two-year Engineering technology degree program at Florence- Darlington Technical College for the duration of the internship
  • Cumulative college GPA of 2.75 or higher
  • Reside in Florence, Darlington, Marion, Chesterfield, Marlboro, or Dillon County.
  • Ability to use weight rated equipment, with max ratings ranging from 275lbs to 325lbs, to meet the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to successfully pass the Power Plant Maintenance Positions Selection System (MASS) test
  • Ability to successfully pass basic Maintenance Training
  • Ability to gain and maintain nuclear access
  • Mandatory hearing protection program
  • Nuclear Pre-Access Drug Screen
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Perform Instrumentation, Electrical, and Mechanical activities by calibrating, assembling, disassembling, maintaining, and repairing nuclear power plant equipment based on qualification status.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for plant equipment to maintain optimum levels of equipment reliability.
