About The Position

ReNuke Services is seeking an experienced Civil/Structural Design Engineer SME for our client's site in York, SC. This role involves the design, analysis, modification, and maintenance of nuclear plant civil and structural systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of civil/structural engineering principles, configuration management, equipment qualification, design basis requirements, and applicable industry codes and standards, as well as familiarity with nuclear plant engineering programs and engineering change processes. Responsibilities include performing engineering evaluations, calculations, structural analyses, field walkdowns, procurement engineering support, and modification design activities. The role requires the ability to read and interpret various plant drawings and technical documents, work with minimal supervision, and collaborate effectively within a team.

Requirements

  • 15 years of experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience with reinforced concrete structures, structural steel, equipment foundations, seismic evaluations, masonry structures, underground structures, anchorage systems, structural supports, and site civil infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of civil/structural engineering principles, configuration management, equipment qualification, design basis requirements, and applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Familiarity with nuclear plant engineering programs and engineering change processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret plant drawings and technical documents including structural drawings, rebar drawings, concrete details, site drawings, foundation drawings, piping and equipment support drawings, vendor documents, calculations, and specifications.
  • Ability to work on assigned projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, be self-motivated, exercise flexibility, and take personal responsibility for assigned accountabilities.

  • Duke Energy qualifications for the following: Preparation of Engineering Changes (CO-FLT-ENG-2000 Design Change), Design Verification (CO-FLT-ENG-2050 Design Verification), Calculations (CO-FLT-ENG-2030 Prepare or Revise a Calculation), Procurement Specification or TRD (CO-FLT-ENG-2040 Preparation or Revise a Procurement Specification or TRD), Applicability Determination Preparer (CO-FLT-AD), 50.59 Screener (CO-FLT-50.59-SCR).
  • Experience performing civil/structural engineering, design engineering, or modification engineering at a commercial nuclear plant.
  • Experience with Duke Energy engineering processes and procedures.
  • Experience supporting engineering changes involving structural modifications, equipment installations, anchorage evaluations, seismic analyses, piping analysis, concrete and steel structure modifications, operability evaluations, and field implementation.
  • Familiarity with applicable industry codes and standards including ACI 349, ACI 318, AISC N690, ASCE 4, ASCE 43, ASME Section III, and related nuclear industry requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analysis, modification, and maintenance of nuclear plant civil and structural systems.
  • Perform engineering evaluations, calculations, and structural analyses.
  • Conduct field walkdowns.
  • Provide procurement engineering support.
  • Execute modification design activities.
  • Review and/or produce Engineering Change Basedocs, Engineering Evaluations, Civil/Structural Calculations, Procurement Specifications, Design Inputs, Structural Analysis Reports, Equipment Anchor Evaluations, Seismic Evaluations, Plant Drawings, Bill of Materials, and supporting design and licensing documentation.
