About The Position

Working within the NPI System Engineering team as part of the Global Supply Chain organization, the engineer is accountable for the seamless transition of products from development to launch. The individual will become a subject matter expert on assigned sub-systems and related development tasks. This role necessitates collaboration with both internal and external development teams, as well as suppliers, to ensure that design and manufacturability adhere to high-quality standards. In addition to technical duties, the engineer will support activities related to Research and Development efforts, contributing to the successful launch of projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in product development environment.
  • Familiar with Design for Excellence principles.
  • Experience with various tools. Eg. DOORs, JAMA and SAP.
  • Familiar with either 3D CAD system such as Solidworks or Electrical CAD system such as Altium designer.
  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering.
  • Need to travel for extended period of time to Singapore (3 months at once, 2 trips in a year (6 months total)).

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably experienced in a highly regulated environment.
  • Preferably with Electromechanical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Design Transfer through the application of Design for Excellence principles.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on assigned systems and provide training as necessary.
  • Act as a liaison between Research & Development, Manufacturing counterparts, and Suppliers.
  • Ensure ease of assembly and high yield rates by conducting design reviews and utilizing assembly and test fixtures.
  • Govern and drive cost efficiencies through system design optimization during the design phase and by applying LEAN principles in manufacturing.
  • Ensure product development considers future sustaining activities.
  • Design and develop assembly/test jigs and fixtures.
  • Ensure proper documentation is available in accordance with Design and Manufacturing Quality Management System (QMS) requirements for instrument industrialization.
  • Develop and manage workflows with the development team as needed to ensure compliance with QMS requirements.
