Caterpillar’s Remanufacturing Division is looking for a Senior Manager NPI to support our facility located in Mossville, IL. This position will lead multiple and complex new product introduction projects involving multiple enterprise functions and value streams.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent experience desired
  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan. Level Expert: Reviews and consults on the final strategic plan in collaboration with the business units. Monitors industry for innovations in planning processes. Directs the development, maintenance, and communication of own function's strategic plan. Contributes to the overall strategic business goals and plans of the organization. Creates and implements a strategy for supporting current and future business needs. Develops long-term strategies to deliver services that keep pace with technology trends.
  • Products and Services: Knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations. Level Expert: Mentors others on the architecture and integration of cross-functional products or services. Presents key products or services to stakeholders, promoting their linkages, strategies, and contributions to the bottom line. Designs organization's current or planned structure based on target markets and strategies. Predicts industry and regulatory trends and monitors key competitors' products and services. Consults on the full spectrum of product and service groups. Leads evaluations of the history, evolution, and future plans of product or service lines.
  • Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization. Level Working Knowledge: Utilizes quality indicators relevant to own unit or function. Adheres to organizational quality management processes and practices. Applies key aspects of continuous improvement processes and evaluates impact on quality. Uses quality evaluation tools and techniques such as walkthroughs and inspections. Works with quality assurance methods, tools and techniques.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Level Expert: Works to create a climate that values and rewards good oral and written communication. Communicates effectively with diverse audiences, using appropriate media and language. Monitors developments in communications tools for potential use by organization. Writes reports, articles, or books for distribution to the business or professional community. Ensures important messages are clearly understood. Coaches others on methods of improving their own communications.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. Level Expert: Gains agreement on the problem-solving process, risk assessment, decision points, and criteria. Trains others in the process of eliciting alternatives and assessing their impact. Orchestrates the resolution of high-impact and cross-functional problems. Successfully organizes problem solvers and stakeholders for high-impact problems. Predicts and explains long-term trends and implications for alternatives. Monitors industry for best practices and new techniques in problem-solving.
  • Customer Service Management: Knowledge of customer service priorities and ability to utilize tools and techniques for maintaining an environment where all understand, and are committed to providing excellent service to internal and external customers. Level Extensive Experience: Communicates with clients on quality of service measurements. Ensures teams maintain focus on value-added services. Conducts and acts on reviews of open service requests. Identifies and resolves gaps in customer expectations versus actual service levels. Negotiates the terms of deliverables, service level agreements, and expectations. Verifies client satisfaction and keeps customers informed.
  • Program Management: Knowledge of the policies and techniques to manage a set of related projects within a program; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control the set of projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve program objectives. Level Expert: Predicts industry trends and developments for program management. Establishes best practices for a program and promotes open communication among program stakeholders. Consults on program planning and management of high-risk, high-impact projects within the program. Champions organization's program management methodology, tools, and techniques. Develops program strategies and monitors all projects to ensure they are in line with each other. Manages high-risk, high-cost project sets involving multiple stakeholders within a program.
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Knowledge of design for manufacturability guidelines, methodologies, and use cases; ability to use this knowledge to optimize product designs and manufacturing operations. Level Working Knowledge: Analyzes the implementation challenges of DFM methodologies and shares them with their supervisors. Documents each stage of the design process for audit and review purposes. Follows standard guidelines and best practices while carrying out DFM procedures. Implements DFM methodologies to standardize product designs, simplify operations, and reduce costs for certain types of manufacturing processes. Utilizes basic DFM tools and technologies to implement DFM methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating with engineering, procurement, supply chain, accounting, sales, marketing, and operations to manage resources for each deliverable within the project.
  • Overseeing project progress and costs; communicating status with stakeholders and participating functional areas; addressing and resolving problems.
  • Influencing project staffing; motivating and developing project team and team members.
  • Communicating with customers and managing expectations; ensuring effective use of project controls and reporting mechanisms.
