About The Position

The Process Engineer is responsible for assisting in providing innovative and cost-effective solutions requiring the development or sustaining of new or improved techniques, procedures, products, and process technologies. The role will focus primarily on electrochemical treatment and separation processes, including produced water and other process streams, while also supporting broader new product development activities across oil and gas production and processing. Areas of product development include electrochemical processes such as electrooxidation, electrocoagulation, electrodialysis, and related electrically driven separation or treatment technologies.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of electrochemical engineering fundamentals, including oxidation-reduction reactions, electrolysis, electrode processes, mass transfer, current density, conductivity, energy use, and scale-up considerations.
  • Practical understanding of electrochemical treatment, separation, or regeneration technologies such as electrooxidation, electrocoagulation, electrodialysis, electrically enhanced separations, or related process platforms.
  • Knowledge of oil and gas processing systems, produced-fluid chemistry, water and wastewater treatment, and key operating parameters such as flow, pressure, temperature, conductivity, salinity, contaminant loading, and phase behavior.
  • Ability to identify and address practical technology-development challenges, including materials compatibility, corrosion, scaling, fouling, electrode passivation, gas generation, solids handling, and safe operation of test systems.
  • Ability to convert experimental data into engineering conclusions, scale-up correlations, performance models, design workflows, specifications, and clear technical reports.
  • Familiarity with relevant oil and gas industry standards and engineering practices, including ASME, API, NACE, ASTM, and applicable electrical and laboratory safety requirements.
  • Chemical engineering degree with 5–15 years’ experience with exposure to product development, technology development, applied R&D, laboratory testing, or pilot-scale process development environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience designing, building, modifying, commissioning, and safely operating electrochemical or electrically driven process test systems is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Keep abreast of novel technical concepts, emerging markets, and competitive technology developments; adopt new practices to develop innovative, differentiated, and cost-effective products.
  • Lead and support laboratory and field testing for oil and gas production and processing technologies, with emphasis on electrochemical treatment, separation, and regeneration processes; build prototypes, products, and systems suitable for testing, and set up and run laboratory simulations.
  • Design, assemble, commission, troubleshoot, and operate bench-scale and pilot-scale electrochemical test systems, including reactors or cells, electrodes, power supplies, instrumentation, sampling systems, process controls, and associated equipment.
  • Define operating windows, performance limits, and product parameters through initial laboratory testing; scale concepts to pilot facilities for confirmation testing; and support design, manufacturing, testing, and commercialization of commercial units.
  • Analyze process performance, develop mathematical models, and draw design conclusions from experimental data; prepare engineering specifications, data sheets, drawings, RFQs, control schemes, test procedures, operating manuals, and product/test documentation.
  • Apply usability, reliability, maintainability, HSE, and engineering quality principles; participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, process designs, materials selections, test plans, data packages, and design standards to support design reuse.
  • Assign, direct, and review technician work; provide guidance to engineers and, with seniority, mentor junior engineers while supporting safe execution of laboratory and pilot operations.
  • Provide field and customer support through InTouch, identify performance, process, materials, or hardware issues, locate primary causes, and develop workable solutions to improve the product.
  • Author technical reports, papers, articles, patents, and presentations; share expertise via Eureka and special interest groups; and expand informal networks throughout the organization.
