About The Position

The University of Michigan Health - Sparrow Lansing is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated full-time PA/NP to join their Pulmonology office. The University of Michigan Health – Sparrow delivers exceptional quality care in a diverse and family-friendly community and is committed to improving access to medical care across the Mid-Michigan region. This role involves working with a physician specializing in the management of complex airway and pleural diseases, offering advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for benign and malignant lung diseases. The position serves as a single point of contact for physicians, patients, and caregivers, providing resources and assistance to patients with lung disease. The role includes both inpatient and outpatient clinical work, research/database collection, and patient education.

Requirements

• Minimum of one year as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in acute hospital setting required.
• Demonstrates knowledge and maintains and respects patient right to privacy by following the HIPAA Privacy and Security policies and procedures.

• Physician Assistant: Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP.
• Physician Assistant: Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Physician Assistant: Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State.
• Nurse Practitioner: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State.
• Nurse Practitioner: Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
• Nurse Practitioner: Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
• Nurse Practitioner: Experience as an adult gerontology nurse practitioner (inpatient/procedural).
• Ability to manage complex pulmonary and critical care conditions over long periods of time as part of a collaborative team
• Demonstrated competency in providing comprehensive health care including evaluation, diagnosis and treatment.
• Excellent Interpersonal skills to effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, families, physicians and other healthcare associates.
• Proficient in use of electronic medical records systems.
• Proficient in use of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to use project management tools: databases, spreadsheets, graphics, etc.
• Minimum 1 year experience as an APP
• EPIC EMR
