This role involves applying medical knowledge and experience to direct the clinical course of research participants in clinical trials, ensuring their safety, and managing clinical research protocols and procedures. The NP/PA will assist in evaluating the safety and efficacy of participants, conduct interviews, document histories, perform chart abstractions, and determine eligibility. Under physician direction, they will perform physical examinations, specialized research procedures, and clinical assessments in both outpatient and inpatient settings. Responsibilities include reviewing lab results, ordering and interpreting diagnostic data, assessing adverse events, and educating participants about procedures and study products. The NP/PA will also assist the principal investigator, potentially act as a sub-investigator, attend educational sessions, participate in professional activities, prepare reports, and train other research team members. Active participation in research committees and networks is also expected.
