About The Position

The Hope Clinic of the Emory Vaccine Center is an international Center of Excellence in clinical and translational research in infectious diseases vaccines, treatment, and prevention. The mission of the Hope Clinic is to conduct human research studies and clinical trials for infectious diseases of public health importance. The clinical studies encompass vaccines, treatments, prevention, community-based research, and laboratory-based translational human immunology.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program.
  • Currently licensed as an advanced practice nurse in the state of Georgia by the Georgia Board of Nursing and certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body, or Certified as a Physician's Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Licensed as appropriate in the state of Georgia.
  • Requires at least one year of direct experience in clinical research.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as an APP.
  • BLS, ACLS, and Healthcare Provider certifications required.

Nice To Haves

  • Leadership experience preferred.
  • Five years research experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides oversight and leadership for three or more research advance practice providers (Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)).
  • Provides technical expertise for all Affiliate providers and other research staff in the daily management of research participants.
  • Recruits and hires staff, establishes work schedules, supervises staff performance, participates in performance evaluations, and determines and disseminates quality activities and design for assigned staff.
  • Supervises educational activities for the unit, such as training residents, fellows, medical and NP/PA students, and new NP/PA graduates.
  • Assists principal investigator in overall implementation and conduct of the study.
  • Works with principal investigator to formulate plan for professional development.
  • Attends educational in-services as appropriate.
  • Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments in medicine and research.
