This position is FT, 40hrs, 4-10s or 5-8s, M-F, Danvers location. About the APP Role and Vascular & Endovascular Surgery: Under the supervision and direction of the Chief of the Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and Administrative Nurse Manager, and in accordance with the rules and regulations of Massachusetts governing APP practice, the NP or PA will be responsible for the evaluation and management of patients seeking care at the MGH Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, in Danvers location. The APP is responsible for triaging new and follow-up patients, administering prescribed wound care, educating patients, coordinating the patient’s plan of care and follow-up, verifying test results, and maintaining the clinical environment and supply of special purchase products and topical medications, as needed. The APP will obtain patient histories, perform comprehensive physical examinations to evaluate vascular patients, arrange diagnostic procedures, coordinate consultations, implement treatment plans, communicate with referring physicians, and provide patient and family education. The APP must demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care based on the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the adult and older adult populations served in this area. The Ideal Candidate will have Experience with wound care and management, preferred. Interest in wound care and venous care. Interest in potentially doing vein procedures such as sclerotherapy or phlebectomies in the long term. Ability to assess medical history of patient, as well as patient concerns, and to determine any limitations/contraindications. Ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately. Knowledge of locations of emergency equipment and procedures. Qualified in all basic and advanced cardiac life support standards as established by the American Heart Association. Possess the maturity, self-confidence, and ability to follow complex patient management plans as directed by the attending vascular specialist.
