About The Position

Notetakers are responsible for listening and understanding class lectures and taking notes for a student with a disability. Notetakers are responsible to take clear and concise notes, edit and revise notes, and get them to the students within strict time frames. Since 1965, Dallas College, formerly Dallas County Community College District, has served more than three (3) million students. Requirements

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information exposed to in the course of business regarding students, supervisors or other employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students from the full range of diverse populations.
  • Strong ability to work effectively and collaboratively with administration, faculty, students, staff, and other constituent groups and partners, both within and outside Dallas College community network.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student accessibility and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
  • Excellent time management, and organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, complex ideas, and information to a variety of stakeholders/constituents within the Dallas College community network.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Experience working with ADA Compliance.
  • Experience working with diverse student and staff populations.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations skills.
  • Position requires regular and predictable attendance.

Responsibilities

  • Instructing students on proper use of equipment.
  • Utilizing excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with internal/external stakeholders and constituents within the Dallas College community network.
  • Providing excellent customer service to clients.
  • Maintaining related department records and/or confidential database for student files.
  • Providing information to prospective students and parents regarding services provided and disability documentation requirements, as well as responding to public inquiries.
  • Presenting accessibility and disability information at campus events for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Completing required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
