About The Position

This role oversees transportation activities to ensure shipments are delivered timely and safely within North America. It requires working in a complex matrix organization, collaborating with various business partners including distribution centers, manufacturing sites, control tower, procurement, trade operations, planning, finance, and quality. The manager will act as a subject matter expert, supporting core teams in areas such as route optimization, mode conversion, shipment consolidation, and network changes, while ensuring quality and compliance. The role involves working with a global network to support operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a closely related discipline is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the capacity to manage, inspire, and develop diverse teams across multiple locations and functions.
  • Previous experience as a team leader or supervisor in a transportation environment is highly valued.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, adeptness in problem-solving, and effective communication are essential.
  • Ability to respond confidently and effectively to critical situations, including supporting crisis preparedness and response initiatives.
  • Experience in risk management and contingency planning to ensure resilience in transportation operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degrees or professional certifications in transportation or supply chain management are advantageous.
  • Experience in transportation operations within the healthcare sector is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements transportation strategies aligned with organizational objectives, focusing on efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and business partner satisfaction.
  • Monitors and analyzes performance metrics, including budget versus actual expenditures and service quality indicators, to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Manages relationships with transportation suppliers to obtain optimal services and ensures supplier compliance with organizational standards.
  • Acts as a regional representative on the global crisis management team, providing support during emergencies and ensuring clear communication.
  • Leads by example, maintaining high standards of professionalism and customer service, and mentors and motivates team members.
