About The Position

The Noon Aide/Recess Monitor helps ensure a safe and enjoyable recess experience for students, working primarily outdoors and supervising students during recess. The role involves monitoring student safety, encouraging participation in activities, communicating concerns to school personnel, and helping students move between activities in an orderly manner. The position is part-time, non-exempt, based at South Mountain, and scheduled Monday through Friday from 10:15 AM to 1:15 PM, with an October start.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience working with children.
• Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
• Positive interpersonal and communication skills.
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
• Strong planning, execution, and problem-solving abilities.
• Self-motivated and dependable.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, and crouch.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a school setting or similar environment.
• Basic first aid and CPR certification obtained through an in-person course.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students attentively during recess and share challenges or unusual observations with teachers and school personnel.
• Pay special attention to student safety during changing weather conditions and other unusual circumstances.
• Encourage and assist students in gathering materials, games, balls, and other activity items.
• Report injuries and unusual situations promptly to professional staff.
• Build warm, positive interactions with students and foster an encouraging, friendly environment.
• Guide students away from inappropriate behavior and support orderly transitions between activities.
• Check the playground daily and address potential hazards.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies.
