About The Position

The Noon Aide/Recess Monitor helps ensure a safe and enjoyable recess experience for students at Sun Valley Academy’s South Mountain location. The role works primarily outdoors and supervises students during recess, encouraging positive interactions and orderly transitions between activities. The position is part-time, non-exempt, and scheduled Monday through Friday from 10:15 AM to 1:15 PM, with an October start.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
One year of experience working with children.
Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
Positive interpersonal and communication skills.
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
Strong planning, execution, and problem-solving abilities.
Self-motivated and dependable.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; stoop, kneel, and crouch; lift and carry up to 25 pounds; and work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a school setting or similar environment.
Basic first aid and CPR certification; certification must be tested and obtained through an in-person course.

Responsibilities

Provide attentive student supervision during recess and share challenges or unusual observations with teachers and school personnel.
Pay particular attention to safety during changing weather conditions and other unusual circumstances.
Help students gather materials, games, balls, and other items for activities.
Quickly report injuries and unusual situations to professional staff.
Cultivate warm, positive, and encouraging interactions with students.
Guide students away from inappropriate behavior and support orderly transitions between activities.
Conduct daily playground checks and address potential hazards.
Respond appropriately to emergencies.
