About The Position

William Paterson University Department of Biology invites applications for a ten (10) month non-tenure track teaching professional (NTTP-III) with expertise in Anatomy & Physiology beginning August 28, 2026. Reporting to the Department of Biology Chairperson, this position includes teaching at the undergraduate level in the areas of Anatomy & Physiology and Microbiology. The NTTP will support curriculum, pedagogy and appropriate activities to support student success. Biology is the most diverse STEM major on campus and the 4th largest department regarding majors at the university. We are a primarily undergraduate teaching institution with significant preparatory training and support of nursing students. The College of Science and Health is committed to serving underrepresented minority students in STEM and has two grant-funded programs to promote student success of underrepresented minorities in STEM fields. We are seeking a candidate who will continue to support these programs and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in a human physiology related field.
  • Evidence of potential to utilize diverse teaching methods.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching undergraduates from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds, including first-generation students.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. in human physiology or related field is preferred.
  • Teaching experience is preferred, particularly in anatomy & physiology related subject, and microbiology
  • Knowledge of pre-health professional school prerequisite courses is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching load is 30 credit hours per year and would include General Anatomy and Physiology I & II lecture and labs, Advanced Anatomy and Physiology lectures and labs, and Basic Microbiology lectures and laboratories.
  • Teaching in-person, hybrid and/or online, as assigned.
  • Support the academic success of students.
  • Bring current pedagogical techniques to the classroom environment.
  • Update and revise course syllabi.
  • Participate in laboratory activity updates and revisions.
