Non-Student Hourly Research Assistant
About The Position
The hourly researcher will perform computational materials science or chemistry tasks related to materials behaviors. The role is within the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of North Texas College of Engineering. The department supports education and research through formal coursework, practical laboratory training, and research projects spanning basic and applied materials science and engineering. The researcher will conduct research, write reports and manuscripts, and present results to collaborators and at conferences. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday for up to 20 hours per week.
Requirements
- PhD in chemistry, materials science, or a related field.
- Familiarity with first-principles calculations and common computational chemistry software.
Nice To Haves
- Experience using and running computational jobs on high-performance computing (HPC) systems.
- Familiarity with Python programming.
