Non-Student Extra Help (Diesel / AHEOTA)
About The Position
The University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM), part of the University of Arkansas System, is seeking a Non-Student Extra Help professional for its Diesel / AHEOTA program. This position involves operating state commercial diesel trucks and teaching related undergraduate/technical courses. The role also includes training and evaluating student drivers to ensure they acquire the necessary skills for commercial driver licensing. Responsibilities extend to facilitating instructional and lab activities, maintaining records, coordinating program activities, and assisting with program approval. Evening and/or summer hours are required for this role.
Requirements
- CDL certification required.
- Five years of CDL experience.
- Experience teaching students to drive.
- The ability to interact efficiently with colleagues and students of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Nice To Haves
- Additional CDL endorsements preferred.
Responsibilities
- Operating state commercial diesel trucks.
- Teaching related undergraduate / technical courses.
- Training and/or evaluating student drivers to ensure they possess the skills to become a licensed commercial driver.
- Training and evaluating student drivers on the range daily to determine when they are ready to progress from the range to on the road training/driving.
- Assisting student drivers with conducting Pre- and Post Trip inspections.
- Facilitating instructional and lab activities.
- Maintaining program and student records.
- Coordinating and supervising.
- Assisting with maintaining program approval.
- Other duties as assigned.
