As a Non-Registered EEG Technician, you will perform routine electroencephalographic examinations in a welcoming and encouraging workplace environment. A caregiver in this position will work Sunday to Saturday with possible weekends. Hours are 7:00am to 11:00pm with the need to be flexible on shift times.

Requirements

Associate’s Degree in Electroneurodiagnostics or a related patient care field OR two years of direct patient care experience
Completion of an EEG Technician Trainee Program
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross

American Board of Registration for Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) Credentialing for a Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) within two years of hire

Responsibilities

Perform electroencephalographic examinations.
Select predetermined electrode combinations (montages) to obtain recordings, recognize artifacts and take appropriate steps to eliminate them.
Monitor on the same apparatus, other variables such as electromyograms, electrocardiograms, electro-oculograms, respiration, etc.
Observe patient with video recording equipment, ensure EEG and tape are lined up exactly, and check focus, lighting and microphone.
Set-up patient for continuous monitoring at the bedside with video, if indicated.
Instruct nursing caregivers on pushing event button and care of videos.
Abstract relevant information from the patients' clinical record and obtain additional information.
