About The Position

Our Skourtes Tower facility in the Robertson Life Sciences Building houses both our School of Dentistry and our patient clinics, providing sweeping views of the city and an unmatched setting for education, research, and exemplary oral health care. Under direct supervision, primarily performs basic research or lab activities similar to a Research Assistant 1 or Lab Aide. Research at the OHSU-SOD will include not only basic bench work in the laboratory but also learning how to design experiments: Independently using instrumentation and performing basic laboratory techniques such as pipetting and buffering solutions with a pH meter. Generating and analyzing data from experiments and collected health surveys. The summer will include lab meetings and learning how to keep a lab notebook and daily log of activities.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in or on vacation from or is otherwise registered in High school
  • Demonstrable record of reliable attendance, punctuality and proven successful performance
  • Demonstrate ability to read, write and understand written and oral instructions in English
  • One year of high school level sciences such as biology or chemistry
  • Know how to use basic instrumentation in a laboratory and calculate basic math equations used to make buffers

Responsibilities
