About The Position

At CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center - Bergan Mercy, the Non-Invasive Cardiac RN assists with non-invasive cardiac imaging procedures and other diagnostic studies. Working under the direct supervision of a qualified licensed provider, the RN safely and accurately performs a variety of non-invasive cardiac assessments. The role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and collaboration to support high-quality diagnostic services and the organization’s mission and core values.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Registered Nurse.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations and treatments by taking histories and vital signs and ensuring procedure documentation is recorded in PACS and/or the electronic health record.
• Prepare equipment and assist physicians during treatment, examinations, and patient testing.
• Perform nursing and other patient care activities for procedures, including exercise, chemical, and nuclear stress exams, transesophageal echocardiograms, and cardioversions.
• Under the supervising provider’s direction, administer intravenous medications, including conscious/moderate sedation medications, beta blockers, vasodilators, inotropic agents, and ultrasound enhancement agents.
• Monitor patient vital signs and symptoms and perform preliminary assessments of cardiac rhythms and arrhythmias to identify possible cardiac ischemia.
• Observe, record, and report patient condition and reactions to medications and treatment.
