About The Position

PASCO SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 1 is seeking up to two Temporary Non-Instructional Paraeducators for Crosswalk duties at Franklin Elementary for the 2026/2027 school year. This is a temporary position for 180 days, working 1.00 hours per day. The role involves ensuring student safety in crosswalks, administering first aid, communicating with students and staff, and adhering to district safety policies. New hires are conditional upon passing a fingerprint screening.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Valid First Aid and/or CPR card for infants and children or willing to obtain.
  • Knowledge of general office equipment such as computers, copiers, laminators, telephones, scanners, paper cutters, book covering materials, and/or step ladders.
  • Knowledge in proper use of English in both written and verbal forms, use of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records.
  • Skill in operating standard office equipment including basic computer applications.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to work in all outdoor weather environments.
  • Understand and conduct verbal and written instruction.
  • Knowledge of de-escalation strategies.
  • Ability to follow safe work practices and/or procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with staff, students, and patrons.
  • Proficiency in basic reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Knowledge of basic computer applications, data collection, assessments, and software applications to support K-12 education.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior paraeducator experience, college, or on-the job experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience working with students who are special needs preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience in a K-12 school setting preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge and/or experience working with children with behavioral disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Administers first aid to provide emergency care.
  • Communicate clearly with students, staff, and the public to give or receive instructions.
  • Assist with safely directing students through crosswalks to and from school at designated intersections or cross streets.
  • Stop and/or direct traffic to allow students to cross safely.
  • Provide support or supervision of students, including but not limited to arrival and/or departure, cross walk duty, transit to bus, transit from bus, recess, breakfast/lunch time, hall monitoring, unloading and/or loading wheelchair bound students.
  • Assist with reporting misconduct, incidents and/or potential dangers to appropriate building administrator(s) or law enforcement.
  • Adhere to District safety policies and/or procedures as well as required program guidelines.
  • Participate in District meetings to communicate information and gain feedback and/or direction on a variety of issues.
  • Distribute documents and materials to appropriate staff, students and/or parents.
  • Assist with supervision of students to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Assist other personnel as may be required to support them with the completion of their work activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.
