About The Position

The Non-Ferrous Trading Team is seeking a detail-oriented Settlement Analyst to join our fast-paced operations. The team is responsible for managing all non-ferrous business, ensuring that sales and purchasing details are effectively communicated and processed downstream. In this role, you will support the trading team through daily administrative tasks, ensure seamless logistical coordination, and provide critical analytical support.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a history of successful multitasking under tight deadlines.
  • High level of precision in data entry, contract drafting, and position reconciliation.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex matters in an easy-to-understand manner to both internal and external parties.
  • Comfortable navigating a fast-paced environment and highly adaptable to new situations as they arise.
  • Ability to manipulate general pricing formulas to solve for missing information (i.e., solving for "X"). Must be comfortable applying simple mathematical concepts to calculate weight conversions (e.g., pounds to metric tons), market spreads, and discount/recovery deductions based on metal purity or contamination.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable managing high-volume data.

Responsibilities

  • Organize specific market trade details to prepare accurate written commercial contracts.
  • Provide clear, detailed instructions regarding contracts and shipments to the non-ferrous administration team.
  • Maintain the Copper Position Report through precise manual entry of trading data.
  • Execute position reconciliation, showing a deep understanding of the position report beyond basic data entry.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the hedging process to actively support the hedge team.
  • Review and manage both domestic and export quality claims.
  • Calculate claim values accurately by applying contract pricing formulas.
  • Monitor for rejected materials and evaluate options to determine the best course of action after a rejection occurs.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate claim details to internal yards or external suppliers. Communication is largely email based however, some verbal communication may be appropriate at times.
  • Negotiate claims with export customers and domestic suppliers in a professional, diplomatic manner.
  • Generate reports and analyze data from domestic and export settlements to identify key trends.
  • Monitor communications and respond to real-time email updates to ensure operational continuity.
