About The Position

Under supervision, oversee, facilitate, process and maintain accurate records for the yard of scrap materials received and/or shipped.

Requirements

• Math aptitude necessary
• Must be able to multi-task when handling customers and vendors in person, on the phone, etc.
• Must have the ability to develop effective working relationships with customers and vendors.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• General knowledge of difference between ferrous and non-ferrous material preferred.

Responsibilities

• Visually verify material types on scale deck, enter code/weight in computer
• Process payment of customers, verify information is correct and material ticket for corresponding customer and price is correct.
• File appropriate paperwork to support scheduled payments to be made.
• Answer incoming calls; give directions, handle questions and or direct to appropriate area/person.
• Sort completed checks, distribute original to customer and maintain copies and backup for filing.
• Test miscellaneous metal samples on spectrograph to insure customer specifications are met.
• Weigh, inspect and record outbound shipments and baler production. Monitor baler production for needed output.
• Operate forklift to assist in times of heavy traffic.
• Prepare price occasionally when supervisor is out.
• Contact nonferrous marketing department to make sales occasionally when supervisor is out
• Other responsibilities as assigned
• Wears all necessary PPE if they are in the yard. Follows company safety standards at all times. Failure to follow standards, may result in loss of position.
