About The Position

This role is responsible for scheduling non-emergency medical transportation services, ensuring vehicle and driver availability to meet patient needs. The dispatcher will manage communications between patients, healthcare providers, and transportation providers, maintain accurate records, and monitor/adjust transportation routes in real-time. A key aspect of the role involves understanding and coordinating health insurance benefits, particularly with AHCCCS and AIHP in Arizona and New Mexico, and ensuring compliance with privacy regulations like HIPAA. The position also requires the use of mapping software for navigation and providing clear instructions to drivers. The dispatcher will create trip sheets, generate reports for management, and strive to meet quality standards and improve dispatch efficiency.

Requirements

  • Valid, unrestricted insurable driver’s license.
  • Resume and references are required.
  • One (1) year of direct work experience.
  • High School Diploma or HSE (Equivalency).
  • First Aid and CPR Certification – may be obtained at time of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the Resource Patient Management System (RPMS).
  • Knowledge of Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS).
  • Knowledge of American Indian Health Program (AIHP).
  • Ability to identify coordination of health insurance benefits for New Mexico and Arizona with AHCCCS and AIHP.
  • Knowledge of utilizing Maps software to create pin drop of location coordinates, navigate to residence and medical facility.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules non-emergency medical transportation services for patients.
  • Ensures vehicles and drivers are available to meet patient needs.
  • Communicates with patients, healthcare providers, and transportation providers regarding schedules and changes.
  • Maintains accurate records of all transportation requests, including patient information, pick-up and drop-off times.
  • Monitors transportation routes and makes real-time adjustments for changes or delays.
  • Ensures compliance with the Privacy Act and HIPAA standards.
  • Provides clear instructions and assistance to drivers on their assignments.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of transportation schedules, client details, and driver assignments.
  • Creates trip sheet assignments for transport drivers.
  • Provides reports and analysis of transportation services to management and stakeholders.
  • Meets quality standards and adheres to company policies.
  • Implements improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the dispatch process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
