About The Position

The Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Technician II, WG-3705-10, inspects aerospace weapon systems components and support equipment for structural integrity using nondestructive inspection methods and performs fluid analysis. This role determines the appropriate test method, prepares fluids and parts for inspection, and interprets test results, providing information about defects to the repair center. The technician analyzes wear metal content in engine lubricating oil and other fluids, recommending corrective actions. Responsibilities also include establishing and monitoring radiation areas for radiographic operations, computing and monitoring personal exposure areas and data, and performing inspections on structures, components, and systems. The technician detects flaws such as cracks, de-laminations, voids, processing defects, and heat damage using various test equipment including penetrant, eddy current, magnetic particle, radiographic, optical, and ultrasonic. They determine metallurgical information of components based on alloy, temper, conductivity, and associated factors. Additionally, the role involves operating, maintaining, and inspecting nondestructive equipment, performing operator maintenance and service inspections on shop equipment and tools, ensuring lock out and tag out procedures are followed, performing silver recovery functions, and handling and disposing of hazardous waste and materials. The technician must have completed an initial Non Destructive Inspection Training Course and maintain basic qualification.

Requirements

  • Must be trained and certified in accordance with NAS 410 - NAS Certification & Qualification of Nondestructive Test Personnel.
  • Shall have the ability to perform Non-Destructive Inspections on various aircraft, aircraft components and sub-components in support of Organizational Level maintenance.
  • Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Level II qualification for Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particles, and Ultrasonic Testing disciplines
  • Three years NDI experience
  • Must be able to work shift schedules as required per Performance Work Statement (PWS)
  • Must be able work work-week schedules i.e. M-F, Sn-Th or as required per PWS
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must be able to obtain favorable National Agency Check with Written Inquires (NACI), IAW DTM-08-003 “Next Generation Common Access Card (CAC) Implementation Guidance or Secret security clearance as required for the position
  • Must be able to climb ladders, raised platforms, and aircraft
  • Must be able to use hand and power tools
  • Must have dexterity to handle small parts
  • Must be able to pass employment physicals
  • Must be able to deploy to support off station exercises and perform other support duties if required

Nice To Haves

  • Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) Level III qualification for Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particles, and Ultrasonic Testing disciplines
  • Five or more years’ H-60 rotary wing experience
  • Seven or more years’ rotary wing maintenance experience
  • Familiarity and ability to use IETMS.
  • Four or more years’ experience with Aircraft Notebook (ACN)
  • Basic Corrosion Control Course
  • Advanced Corrosion Control Course/Paint and Final Finish

Responsibilities

  • Performs Non-Destructive Inspections in support of aircraft Organizational Level maintenance functions utilizing, Eddy Current, Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particles, and Ultrasonic Testing
  • Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance support for assigned H-60 aircraft
  • Performs inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, TD compliance, modification, assembly, corrosion control, preservation/depreservation
  • Maintain aircraft and aeronautical equipment to continuously support the assigned readiness posture outlined in in the activities plan and daily flight schedule
  • Aircraft maintenance action documentation via logs, records, forms, and electronic means
  • Use hand tools, power tools, machines, specific and general aviation test measurement and diagnostic equipment, and sets kits and outfits (SKO).
  • Inspect aircraft components/sub components.
  • Read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.

  • Requisition repair parts, materials, and consumable supplies through military supply system.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.
