About The Position

This position is for a weekend shift, with a typical working schedule of Friday – Sunday from 7 AM to 7 PM. The role involves assembling, maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, calibrating, and modifying mechanical, electro-mechanical, electronic, micro-electronic, optical, magnetic, nuclear measurement, radiography, counting, monitoring, and ultrasonic equipment. This may include prototype equipment, production equipment, nuclear instrumentation, test equipment, and associated controls and instrumentation. The technician must be proficient in diagnosing and troubleshooting problems in these areas, utilizing complex test equipment to resolve component failures, program errors, calibration issues, or operator errors. Knowledge of panel assembly, wiring, and cable construction may be required, as well as experience with machine position/motion control systems. The role also requires generating various forms of analysis and documentation using Microsoft Windows Suite of Office products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Requirements

  • High school diploma (GED) with five (5) years of experience in maintenance or fabrication of related industrial equipment.
  • Training, education, and experience should include electronic, electrical, electro-mechanical, mechanical, optical, ultrasonic, nuclear measurement, radiography, and computer disciplines.
  • Technical school associate degree in electronics, instrumentation, or micro-electronic solid-state technology; or equivalent military, industrial, or college training with three (3) years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing industrial, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical control equipment.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience reading and interpreting drawings, schematics, ladder logic, instruction manuals, and logic symbol schematics.
  • Must be able to logically troubleshoot control systems to identify software and hardware problems.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience and working knowledge of state-of-the-art test equipment; such as multimeters, digital oscilloscopes, programmable power supplies, calibrators, digital analyzers, microprocessor development systems, multi-channel analyzers, etc.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with basic hand tools, soldering equipment, electrical and electronics test equipment.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience with microprocessor software structure and commands.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work exclusively on the day shift during the initial approximately 6-month onboarding and training period.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, calibrate and perform preventative maintenance on manufacturing and quality assurance automated systems, including mechanical, electro-mechanical, machine motion control systems, electronic, micro-electronics, optical, magnetic, nuclear measurement, radiography, and ultrasonic equipment.
  • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, parts lists, and ladder logic.
  • Read and understand vendor maintenance manuals for proper calibration and maintenance methods.
  • Troubleshoot computer hardware, software, and interface peripherals.
  • Understand processes associated with mechanical, electronic, and microprocessor-based programmable controllers.
  • Keep abreast of state-of-the-art process control through self-study, in-plant training, or vendor schooling.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art test equipment and diagnostic software programs to troubleshoot and correct hardware and software related problems.
  • Understand software programming and be able to modify and document software changes.
  • Use a variety of test equipment such as Simpson meter, amp probe, oscilloscope, signal generators, programmable power supplies, and multimeters.
  • Provide training and diagnostic assistance for other personnel in the work group.
  • Install new or modified equipment or systems and make modifications to existing systems, including updating documentation.
  • Generate equipment information, preventative maintenance, and calibration procedures for an auditable documentation system.
  • Consult with vendors, manufacturing engineers, and maintenance personnel concerning equipment operation, troubleshooting, and repair to minimize downtime.
  • Attain a thorough knowledge of a wide variety of automated equipment and nuclear measurement techniques through self-study, on-the-job training, in-plant, and vendor training courses.
  • Keep abreast of the latest developments in state-of-the-art electronics and computer technology.
  • Work with quality assurance, engineering, and other groups in resolving equipment problems.
  • Keep facilities, equipment, and work areas clean and orderly, adhering to good housekeeping practices and using good judgment in performing all work safely.
  • Follow safety regulations and procedures, complying with the plant safety manual and using good judgment in performing all work tasks safely.
  • Assume a leading role in counseling trainee personnel in proper safety methods.
  • Have proficient working knowledge and ability to work to the National Electrical Code.
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
