About The Position

This is a sensitive government position within the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), specifically with the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC). The GCIC is responsible for conducting biannual onsite audits of non-criminal agencies that handle state and federal criminal history record information for licensing and employment. Non-Criminal Justice Compliance Specialists perform these audits, prepare detailed reports with findings, evaluations, and recommendations for corrective actions, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. The role requires a strong understanding of the laws governing non-criminal justice information.

Knowledge of laws, policies, and regulations related to the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) network.
Strong verbal, oral, and written communication skills.
Must be able to communicate through a variety of channels including written and verbal.
Must be able to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences within and outside of GBI.
Must be able to travel to various counties and cities within and outside the state of Georgia.
A valid Georgia driver’s license is required.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
For Specialist 2: Bachelor's degree and one year of experience at the lower-level Criminal Justice Compliance Spec 1.
For Specialist 3: Bachelor's degree and one year of experience at the lower-level Criminal Justice Compliance Spec 2 OR four years of experience at a level equivalent to a compliance auditor.
An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.
For Specialist 3: High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of experience in a job-related area and one (1) year of experience at the lower level Criminal Justice Compliance Spec 2; or four (4) years of experience at a level equivalent to a compliance auditor.

Nice To Haves

Ability to successfully complete the Georgia Peace Officer Standard Training (POST) Instructor Certification or be willing to obtain the certification upon hire.
Two years of working knowledge in assisting non-criminal justice agencies with fingerprint-based background checks for employment and licensing purposes.
Two years of working knowledge in policies and regulations related to the use, security and dissemination of state and federal criminal history record information.
Two years of working knowledge in Federal authorities and statutes such as Public Law 92-544, National Child Protection Act/Volunteers for Children Act and Adam Walsh Act.
Two years of working knowledge in The Georgia Applicant Processing Service (GAPS).

Responsibilities

Conduct biannual onsite audits for non-criminal agencies that receive state and federal criminal history record information.
Prepare audit reports containing findings, evaluations, and recommendations for corrective action.
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations governing non-criminal justice information.
Provide professional customer support.
Facilitate understanding and insight through skillful exchange of information.
