About The Position

Dohrn Transfer is seeking a full-time Non-CDL Driver at its Oak Creek, Wisconsin terminal. The driver operates a non-CDL vehicle between customer locations to deliver and pick up freight at dock height. Drivers are home daily. Starting pay is $26.37 per hour, increasing to $29.08 per hour after the first year. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a 9:00 a.m. start on the day shift.

The position involves safely transporting freight, loading and unloading the vehicle, and securing freight as needed. Drivers inspect vehicles and follow company policies and applicable regulations for commercial motor vehicle operation. The role requires frequent freight handling and physical activity, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying. Work may involve exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, wetness, dust, gas, fumes, or chemicals.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Have completed high school or hold an equivalent qualification.
• Hold a valid driver's license and have at least 3 years of driving experience.
• Have a Class C endorsement if in Illinois or a #2 endorsement if in Indiana.
• Possess only one valid driver's license issued by the driver's state of residence; recently transferred drivers must provide a copy of their former license or license information for verification.
• Provide information on all driver's licenses held during the previous 36 months.
• Have no DUI/OWI or reckless-driving citation or conviction within the previous 5 years.
• Maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination and functional screen.
• Consent to a pre-employment drug screen and receive a negative result.
• Have negative controlled-substance and alcohol results from prior employers for the past 3 years, with no prior evidence of controlled-substance use.
• Have no refusal to submit to an alcohol or controlled-substance test within the past 3 years, including pre-employment testing.
• Consent to a 10-year work-history check; list and explain gaps of 30 days or more and provide documentation if requested.
• Be able to read and write English and perform simple mathematical calculations.
• Have excellent attendance.
• Meet the position's physical requirements, including handling freight weighing up to 100 pounds and pushing or pulling up to 60 pounds of horizontal force.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a non-CDL vehicle while transporting freight between terminals and customer locations.
• Deliver and pick up freight at dock height.
• Load and unload the vehicle independently or with assistance from dockworkers; use mechanical freight-handling equipment where available and appropriate.
• Frequently lift, pull, push, and carry freight.
• Secure freight using straps or other methods as required.
• Inspect the vehicle for defects and safe operating conditions as required by law and company policy.
• Perform duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and comply with federal, state, and local commercial motor vehicle regulations.
• Perform other duties as needed.
