About The Position

As a Non-CDL Delivery Driver, your primary responsibility is to operate a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. You will transport materials to designated destinations, conduct vehicle inspections, and ensure safe and efficient delivery operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of relevant experience required.
  • Valid medical examiner's certificate demonstrating physical fitness for CMV operation (or ability to obtain one).
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Good knowledge of traffic laws and safe driving practices.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and traffic laws.
  • At least 21 years old.
  • Proficient in reading and speaking the English language for effective communication, understanding traffic signs and signals, responding to official inquiries, and maintaining records.
  • Competent in safely operating the specific type of commercial motor vehicle.
  • Thorough understanding of CMV inspection procedures.
  • Ability to identify and address issues affecting the CMV's safe operation.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a commercial delivery vehicle, primarily a box truck, in a safe and responsible manner, following all traffic rules and regulations.
  • Load, unload, and transport materials ensuring that products are secured properly to prevent damage during transit and ensure the correct items are delivered to the right location.
  • Review driving instructions and assigned driving routes and follow geographic directions to transport materials to and from specified destinations to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate delivery records, including receipts, delivery confirmations, and any required paperwork.
  • Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with customers during deliveries and addressing any inquiries or concerns promptly.
  • Collect signatures or payment if necessary and answer basic questions about the delivery.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections checks on the delivery vehicle, such as checking oil levels, tire pressure, and report any maintenance or safety issues promptly.
  • Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and in good working condition.
  • Accurately track, manage, and share Records of Duty Status (RODS) data in Electronic Logging Devices and maintain each change in a duty status.
  • Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes in compliance with state regulations.
  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from the loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned.
  • Review driving instructions and routes, following geographic directions accurately.
  • Handle delivery-related issues, such as traffic delays, vehicle breakdowns, or delivery address discrepancies, with a calm and solution-oriented approach.
  • Comply with all federal and state transportation regulations, including Hours of Service (HOS) requirements.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
