About The Position

This is a summer/year-round part-time position for NJYC Teachers/Crew Leaders. The role involves teaching and working with at-risk youth, potentially leading them to community service projects and events. The position requires a strong understanding of curriculum development, child development, and effective instructional strategies. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate strong moral character and initiative. This position is pending budget availability and requires candidates to be currently employed by the District.

Requirements

• Hold a New Jersey instructional certificate with appropriate subject area endorsement(s) for the position held.
• Have excellent experience in teaching and working with at-risk youth.
• Hold a valid CDL driver's license.
• Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the content field.
• Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
• Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
• Must be currently employed by the District.

• Describe ways in which the content can be organized into lessons for secondary students.
• Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach and work with at-risk youth.
• Drive groups of students to various community service projects and events.
• Organize content into lessons for secondary students.
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning.
• Relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
