About The Position

The Night Manager is responsible for overseeing the store during the evening and closing hours, ensuring that the store is safe, clean, organized, fully stocked, and ready for the next business day. The Night Manager serves as the Manager on Duty (MOD) during assigned shifts and is responsible for supporting Team Members, providing excellent customer service, maintaining store standards, and ensuring all closing procedures are completed accurately and consistently.

Requirements

  • Previous grocery, retail, restaurant, or customer-service leadership experience preferred.
  • Previous closing or Manager on Duty experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work evening, closing, weekend, and holiday shifts as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks associated with grocery store operations.
  • Ability to safely lift and move merchandise as required.
  • Dependable, responsible, and positive leader who takes initiative and leads by example.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Manager on Duty during evening and closing shifts.
  • Lead and support Team Members throughout the shift.
  • Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer questions, concerns, and complaints.
  • Ensure all Team Members are following M.U.M. LLC policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Monitor attendance, breaks, and Team Member performance during the shift.
  • Ensure departments are properly recovered, cleaned, faced, and organized before closing.
  • Make sure shelves, displays, coolers, and other sales areas are properly stocked and ready for the next day.
  • Monitor product quality, expiration dates, and proper rotation of merchandise.
  • Ensure all food safety and sanitation procedures are followed.
  • Complete or verify nightly cleaning duties throughout the store.
  • Ensure shopping carts, baskets, registers, and customer areas are clean and organized.
  • Communicate any operational issues, maintenance concerns, inventory issues, or staffing concerns to the Store Director or appropriate manager.
  • Assist Team Members when needed while maintaining overall responsibility for running the store.
  • Handle customer service issues professionally and appropriately.
  • Follow all cash-handling and register procedures.
  • Ensure all registers and front-end areas are properly secured at closing.
  • Ensure alcohol and tobacco sales policies are followed, including the requirement that alcohol sales stop when the register locks at 9:00 PM.
  • Monitor the store for potential safety, security, or loss-prevention concerns.
  • Report suspicious activity, accidents, injuries, or other incidents to management immediately.
  • Confirm all customers have safely exited the store before securing the building.
  • Complete a final walkthrough of all sales floor areas.
  • Verify that departments have completed their closing and recovery responsibilities.
  • Ensure merchandise is properly stored and refrigerated or frozen as required.
  • Verify that coolers, freezers, and other equipment are operating properly.
  • Ensure designated equipment and machines are turned off according to closing procedures.
  • Make sure lights and other equipment are turned off as required.
  • Ensure doors, emergency exits, and other access points are properly secured.
  • Confirm that the building is clean, organized, and ready for the opening team.
  • Ensure trash and recycling are handled according to store procedures.
  • Complete the required closing checklist and communicate any incomplete tasks to the Store Director.
  • Report any equipment problems, security concerns, or other issues before leaving the store.
  • Ensure the store is properly secured before the Night Manager leaves.
  • Follow all M.U.M. LLC policies and procedures.
  • Hold Team Members accountable while treating everyone with respect.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally.
  • Delegate responsibilities effectively.
  • Follow up to ensure assigned tasks are completed.
  • Maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Demonstrate strong judgment when making decisions during the Store Director's absence.
  • Escalate serious employee, customer, safety, or operational issues to the appropriate manager.
