About The Position

The Night Manager is responsible for achieving desired gross profit and productivity levels. This role involves projecting sales, product movement, and labor needs. The Night Manager will manage and motivate staff, including recruitment, training, and development, ensuring adherence to company policies and employment laws. They will also oversee cash and payment systems with a priority on safety, manage all merchandise and non-merchandise stock, and maintain equipment and fixtures. Health and safety, security, and emergency systems are also under their purview, along with staying informed about competitor activity. The Night Manager establishes daily work assignments, handles truck deliveries, and conducts store closing procedures. Secondary functions include basic housekeeping, ordering merchandise and supplies, and standing for extended periods. The role also emphasizes personal skill development through ongoing training.

Responsibilities

• Achieves desired gross profit.

• Manage and motivate staff, recruit staff, train and develop staff, according to company policies and employment laws, and ensure relevant HR procedures are followed (appraisals, discipline, etc.)
• Manage cash and payment systems in accordance with company procedures and policies, at all times with staff and customer safety as the uppermost priority.
• Manage, maintain and report as necessary all merchandise and non-merchandise stock.
• Manage upkeep and condition of all equipment, fixtures, etc. on premises.
• Manage health and safety, security, and emergency systems, capabilities and staff and customer awareness, according to company policy and relevant law.
• Seek and continuously develop knowledge and information about competitor activity, pricing and tactics, and communicate this to Store Manager.
• Attend meetings and contribute to company strategy and policy-making as required.
• Establishes daily work assignments and priorities for store employees.
• Receives and unloads truck deliveries using available equipment and according to established guidelines.
• Conducts store closing procedures.
• Performs basic housekeeping duties using available equipment, (mops, brooms, floor scrubbing machines, sanitizing equipment, etc.).
• Follow established guidelines for completion of all required forms, records, reports and verify receipts.
• May order merchandise and supplies according to established guidelines.
• Develop personal skills and capability through on-going training, as provided by the company or elsewhere subject to Company approval.
• Other duties as assigned.
