About The Position

Opal Foods is looking to hire a Night Guard for our Hampton, Iowa location. This position is responsible for ensuring that only permitted and bio-secure personnel are allowed into the assigned facility by thoroughly checking information, communicating with management, and reporting any non-compliant activity immediately. The Night shift includes training and response for after-hour alarms, checking refer temps every 4 hours with documentation, overall security of the complex (checking locks on doors, etc.), and monitoring overnight personnel. This role also involves working with the warehouse to verify SFMs and provide appropriate dock numbers for drivers to back into, allowing them to remain in their trucks. The guard must review actual identification before giving clearance to enter the complex and provide a daily update to the manager regarding any issues that occurred during the shift.

Requirements

  • Must be available to work an alternating 3-4 schedule, 12-hour shift, including holidays.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

  • Check every individual entering the facility for proper clearance and in accordance with Opal’s biosecurity policy.
  • Allow or deny entrance into facilities by opening and closing site gates.
  • Maintain current information for each day’s drivers’ log including entrants, exits, times, seal #’s etc.
  • Maintain hand-sanitizer and foot disinfectant stations and require entrants to use both.
  • Provide directions to individuals with clearance as to what they should do and where they should go.
  • Provide biosecurity attire to all visitors with clearance.
  • Communicate with plant and farm for any deliveries or issues of any kind.
  • Maintain clean work space.
  • Ensure all loaded trucks are properly identified with the correct seal before leaving.
  • Communicate with and update the incoming guard during shift change to ensure all information is exchanged.
  • Spray tires with disinfectant when automatic spray station cannot be used.
  • Respond to after-hour alarms.
  • Check refer temperatures every 4 hours and document checks.
  • Ensure overall security of the complex, including checking locks on doors.
  • Monitor overnight personnel.
  • Work with the warehouse to verify SFMs and provide appropriate dock numbers for drivers.
  • Review actual identification before giving clearance to enter the complex.
  • Provide daily updates to the manager regarding any issues that occurred during the shift.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
