About The Position

The Driver Manager plays a critical role in overseeing and coordinating the activities of drivers within the transportation and warehousing sector to ensure efficient, safe, and timely delivery of goods. This position is responsible for managing driver schedules, monitoring compliance with safety regulations, and fostering a productive work environment that supports operational goals. The Driver Manager acts as a liaison between drivers, dispatchers, and upper management to resolve issues and optimize route planning. By analyzing performance metrics and implementing continuous improvement strategies, the Driver Manager helps enhance overall fleet productivity and customer satisfaction. Ultimately, this role ensures that all transportation operations align with company standards and regulatory requirements while supporting the professional development of the driver team.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in driver supervision or fleet management within the transportation industry.
• Strong knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and safety standards.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency with transportation management software and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills daily to motivate and guide drivers, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Analytical skills are essential for interpreting performance data and making informed decisions to optimize routes and schedules.
• Effective communication skills facilitate clear instructions, conflict resolution, and collaboration with multiple stakeholders including drivers, dispatchers, and management.
• Technical proficiency with transportation management systems and software supports efficient tracking, reporting, and resource allocation.
• Problem-solving skills enable the Driver Manager to address unexpected challenges.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
• Experience managing a team in a fast-paced transportation or warehousing environment.
• Familiarity with GPS tracking systems and route optimization tools.
• Certification in fleet management or transportation safety.
• Bilingual abilities, particularly in English and Spanish, to support diverse driver teams.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of drivers to ensure adherence to schedules and delivery deadlines.
• Monitor driver compliance with safety policies, transportation laws, and company procedures.
• Develop and maintain driver schedules, routes, and assignments to maximize efficiency and reduce operational costs.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide coaching, and address any disciplinary issues as needed.
• Collaborate with dispatch and logistics teams to resolve operational challenges and improve service quality.
• Maintain accurate records related to driver hours, vehicle maintenance, and incident reports.
• Facilitate ongoing training programs to enhance driver skills and knowledge of safety regulations.
• Communicate effectively with drivers, management, and clients to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
