About The Position

The Night Diesel Mechanic works in a small, fast-moving, expanding team with short turnaround times to prepare trucks and trailers for the next morning’s routes. The team performs basic servicing, brake jobs, trailer repairs, clutch adjustments and repairs, cooling system repairs, and other maintenance. Internal on-the-job training is provided to help improve the team.

The schedule is Sunday through Thursday nights, 6 p.m. to 5 a.m., averaging 50–55 hours per week. The position is located in Kearney, Nebraska.

Requirements

• One year of experience performing repair and maintenance on heavy trucks, diesel engine vehicles, equipment, and related components is preferred.
• Ability to use repair manuals, online services, electrical wiring diagrams, and schematics to troubleshoot or repair vehicle or component failures.
• Valid driver's license.
• Good driving record.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must possess the necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to regularly stand, lift, push, pull, squat, bend, kneel, climb, and work in awkward positions and tight areas.

Nice To Haves

• CDL is preferred for roadside assistance and test driving equipment.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain fleet vehicles, ensuring they meet safety and performance requirements.
• Service fleet vehicles according to required schedules.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and make necessary repairs, adjustments, or replacements.
• Perform roadside repairs and adjustments.
• Perform routine housekeeping to keep the work location and equipment orderly and free of safety hazards.
• Ensure vehicle safety devices are in good working order.
• Perform other duties as necessary.
