About The Position

The General Cleaner, under the direction of a Supervisor or Manager, performs janitorial duties for buildings and related areas. The role requires quality customer service skills and knowledge of, or willingness to learn, proper cleaning techniques.

Responsibilities include cleaning floors, stairs, bathrooms, break rooms, windowsills, and windows; restocking supplies; emptying trash; maintaining janitorial and vending closets; keeping equipment clean, safe, and operable; and properly labeling, diluting, and using chemicals while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. Other routine maintenance duties may be assigned. The cleaner interacts with leaders, stakeholders, customers, visitors, and clients, and collaborates with employees.

Requirements

• Six months or more of related customer service and/or facility services experience.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good client/customer service skills.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in various physical positions, including standing, sitting, walking, bending, and repetitive movement.

Nice To Haves

• A valid driver's license.
• Floor care experience.

Responsibilities

• Vacuum, sweep, and mop flooring and stairs.
• Clean and sanitize bathrooms.
• Clean sinks, countertops, microwaves, and refrigerators in break rooms.
• Restock supplies in bathrooms, break rooms, and common areas.
• Empty trash cans, replace liners, and clean receptacles as necessary.
• Dust and clean office desks and furniture that are not cluttered.
• Clean windowsills and windows.
• Keep janitor closets clean, organized, and safe.
• Maintain janitorial equipment in a clean, safe, and operable condition.
• Properly label, dilute, and use cleaning chemicals.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
• Keep vending closets clean, organized, and safe.
• Perform other routine maintenance duties as assigned.
• Engage with leaders, stakeholders, customers, visitors, and clients, and collaborate with other employees.
